Pick-up (Taormina and Nearby Area)

We will pick you up outside/nearby your accommodation in Taormina or in its close vicinity (depending on the accommodation’s location, we will organize a convenient meeting point) between 8.30 and 9.00 AM. Each of our vehicles can accommodate up to 8 participants.


Guided trekking at 2000 – 2500 m. on Etna North

It takes about one hour to get to Etna North to our camp base; there, you will stop briefly to get to know better the guide and the day’s itinerary. Also, you will take the needed equipment for the Mount Etna hike. Our expert naturalistic guide will then take the lead and walk you through ancient woods and extinct craters. Moreover, they introduce you to the spectacular volcanic phenomena occurred over time. The walk will be your chance to learn about the unique flora and the many facts related to the volcano. While marveling at the beauties of Mount Etna, you will also hear all about its folks and their traditions, discovering the link between man and nature. This guided hike on Etna will last approximately 4 hours.


Packed lunch

During the way, you will have a stop to enjoy a packed lunch that we will offer you.


Volcanic cave

After that, equipped with helmets and torchlights that we will provide for free, you will be able to get in the volcanic underground and visit one of striking volcanic caves of our volcano; during this part the guide will explain origins, characteristics and uses of the of this fascinating volcanic phenomenon.


Drop-off

At the end of the Mount Etna Hike Tour, at around 6.00/6.30 PM, the guide will drop you off at the starting point.

Naturalistic English-speaking guide (geologists, volcanologists, forestry-experts or agronomists); pickup and transport, packed lunch, insurance and equipment.

English and Italian. Spanish and French are available upon request, if informed with adeguate notice

Requirements

This activity is suitable for people in good shape, used to walking on long trails for a prolonged time. The participation is not recommended to those who are not in a good state of health, those who are not used to walking and to children under 12 years of age.
