Departure (Taormina and Nearby Area)
Our Siracusa and Noto tour will introduce you to two of the most iconic cities of Sicily, both characterized by outstanding historic features.
Our driver will pick you up outside/nearby your accommodation in Taormina or in its close vicinity (Giardini Naxos, Castelmola). Depending on the accommodation’s location, we will organize a convenient meeting point. Each of our vehicles can accommodate up to 8 participants.
Archaelogical Park of Siracusa
The first stop on the Siracusa tour will be the Neapolis Archaeological Park, where you can admire the impressive works from the Greek and Roman periods. Some of the most famous monuments include the Ara of Hieron and the Greek Theater; also particularly interesting are the Latomie, stone caves that house, among others, the Ear of Dionysius.
The visit to the Neapolis Archaeological Park will take about an hour and a half.
Ortigia and lunch break
The second stop of the Siracusa and Noto tour will be the historical centre of Siracusa. Here is the little island called Ortigia, which Cicero defined as “the greatest and most beautiful Greek city”.
We will supply an informative brochure and a map for a self-guided tour, which will take approximately one hour and a half: walking through the streets of Ortigia you will admire the ruins of the Temple of Apollo and the papyrus plants in the Arethusa Fountain.
You will also admire the Duomo square with its beautiful white Cathedral of “Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception“, erected on the Ancient Greek temple of Athena.
We will offer a light lunch with local products; alternatively, you could decide to have lunch on your own.
Noto
Once left Siracusa, the tour will continue to Noto, listed since 2002 among the Unesco World Heritage sites together with other 7 cities built in the same architectural style as “Late-Baroque Towns of the Val di Noto”
The city is considered the capital of the Sicilian Baroque and an “open-air museum”.
The free visit to Noto will take approximately 1 hour: you will enjoy walking through its main street, passing by the Porta Reale and the Church of St. Francesco with its majestic staircase. Palazzo Ducezio is located in Piazza Municipio. Among the many palaces and churches to visit, you cannot miss the visit of the Cathedral Church with the Bishop’s Palace and the Church of San Salvatore.
Drop-off
At the end of the Siracusa and Noto tour, in the evening, the driver will drop you off at the starting point.
