Departure (Taormina and Nearby Area)
The Godfather is considered one of the greatest movies in the history of cinema; a tour to its Sicilian locations will definitely be a highlight of any trip to Sicily!
Our driver will pick you up outside/nearby your accommodation in Taormina or in its close vicinity (Giardini Naxos, Castelmola).
Depending on the accommodation’s location, we will organize a convenient meeting point.
According to the season, the tour will run either in the morning time (winter) or in the afternoon (summer).
Each of our vehicles can accommodate up to 8 participants.
Savoca
We will drive you to the characteristic medieval village of Savoca. With Roman origins, the village is famous for its enchanting alleys which will let you admire some examples of Medieval architecture, both religious and secular.
Particularly interesting are the San Michele church, the San Nicolò church and the ruins of the Pentefur Castle. We will also visit the fascinating catacombs of the Cappuccini Convent, which hosts the mummified bodies of monks and nobles from Savoca.
Then, we will move to see Palazzo Trimarchi hosting the famous Bar Vitelli, basically the highlight of the tour: it is the set of the scene in which Micheal asks Apollonia’s father for her hand. Nowadays, the bar hosts a small museum of The Godfather movie, but there you can also taste a delicious Sicilian granita while looking at the pictures taken during the shooting of the film.
Forza d’Agrò
Afterwards, we will move to Forza D’Agrò.
There, you can visit the Sant’Agostino church on the charming hilltop of the village, featured in the second film, in the scene where Vito escapes to the US hotly pursued by Don Ciccio’s men.
Forza d’Agrò also offers a unique panoramic view of the sea and Mount Etna. In particular, you can enjoy it from Piazza della Triade, one of the most beautiful squares of the village close to the Arco Durazzesco, an arch built in Gotico chiaramontano style.
Drop-off
At the end of The Godfather tour, after approximately 4 hours, the driver will drop you off at the starting point.
